East Jordan fills four seats



EAST JORDAN - Voters retained one of the two incumbents who ran for re-election to the city commission and elected three new city commissioners at the Nov. 6 election.

Incumbent Dan Bennett began his second four-year term as city commissioner following the swearing-in ceremony on Monday, Nov. 12, at City Hall. He received 225 votes.

Also sworn in were Ray Fisher, Deneille Moes and Paul Timmons. Fisher received 266 votes, Moes 182 and Timmons 214. Fred Vollbach who was running for reelection lost his seat with 137 votes. All terms are for four years.

Two of the seats open were those of Todd McNitt and Jean Timmons who decided not to run again.

Voters also passed a refinancing on property owned by the city adjacent to the boat launch. The purpose for refinancing is to obtain a lower interest rate, according to the city. The vote was 178-157.
