BOYNE CITY -Dale Hardy, Class of 1974, was inducted into Boyne City High School's Hall of Fame on Friday during Homecoming festivities.

"I'm very honored," Hardy said after the ceremony. "It's about taking a great high school education and going on with it."

All School Boosters president, Mike Webster, presented a plaque to Hardy for excelling in a variety of categories. Hardy has 28 years in as a state trooper, having earned a bachelor's degree at Ferris State University in criminal justice. He is a state fire marshall and investigator and teaches investigative techniques to the state police.

The Hall of Fame was created about 15 years ago to recognize Boyne City High School alumni. Those inducted have used their educational foundation established in high school to go on to outstanding achievement and have provided a group of role models for succeeding generations, high school principal Karen Jarema said.

Hardy is a volunteer and instructor for the Northern Michigan Adaptive Sports & Recreation, the Event Director for the Jimmie Heuga Vertical Express for Multiple Sclerosis and a 15-year member of the International Association of Arson Investigators.
