Riders will start at Resort Township's West Park at Bay Shore and travel along the Wheelway to Charlevoix Township's Shanahan Park. From there they can return to West Park on the same route or on recommended local roads.

Back at the park they can enjoy a discount picnic lunch from the Harborside Deli. The ride will be led by John Paulus, a northern Michigan native and regular TOMTC leader.

The Charlevoix County portion of the wheelway is very user friendly with no detours and only a few curb cuts. With its asphalt surface and wooden boardwalk the route is suitable for all bicycles. Although it is close to US-31 in its entirety, it offers many spectacular views of Lake Michigan and Little Traverse Bay.

Riders should meet in the parking lot at West Park, several hundred yards from US31, a little before 10 am. The ride is free to TOMTC members and $5 for nonmembers. To register in advance call 231-348-8280 or email to info@trailscouncil.org.

TOMTC events are low-key, non-competitive bike rides over nonmotorized trails and lightly traveled local roads. Most are 15 to 25 miles long and take 1 1/2 to three hours to complete except where noted. All events will be held rain or shine. TOMTC will be at the staging area for all who care to ride. Use of helmets is required. Discount lunch coupons from partnering restaurants will be available on most rides.
