John Albert Rokus



John Albert "Bud" Rokus, 71, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at St. Joseph Hospital in Clinton Township, from lung cancer.

He was born Dec. 17, 1936, in Cleveland. Bud served in the U.S. Army for four years. After his service, he moved to California and became a member of the carpenter's union.

He moved to Michigan in the late 1960s, where he lived until his death.

Bud was a member of the VFW and St. Matthew Catholic Church of Boyne City.

After retirement, his greatest joy in life was his grandchildren. Bud is survived by three sisters, Donna Maines of Warren, Beverly Norris of Hubbard, and Debbie Crispo of Struthers; four brothers, Pat Rokus of Roseburg, Ore., Sam Rokus of Hubbard, Robert Bono of Rio Vista, Calif., and Tony Bono of Concord, Calif.; four sons, Mark Rokus (Karen) of Holland, Mich., Jim Gibbons (Melanie) of Boyne City, Mike Gibbons of Boyne City, and Ron Gibbons (Karen) of Boyne City; eleven grandchildren; and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Rokus and Mary Prologo.

A service was held at I I a.m., Tuesday, July 15, at the Hubbard Union Cemetery in Hubbard, Ohio. Arrangements were made by Schiavone Funeral Home in Youngstown, Ohio.
