Marr, Gettel lead Pellston sweep



EAST JORDAN - Ryan Gettel and David Marr combined to pitch wins and lead the East Jordan bats in the baseball team's doubleheader sweep over Pellston Thursday.

Gettel allowed eight hits and had six strikeouts in the 6-5 opener win. The Red Devils scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth, to win. Gettel had a triple, Matt Pater had two hits and an RBI.

Kevin LaVanway started the second game, going four innings and striking out six. In the fifth inning, he gave way to David Marr, who was the pitcher of record in the 14-11 win.

Marr pitched the last two innings, striking out six and allowing one hit. He also had three hits, including a home run, to help his cause. He finished with three RBI for the Devils.

Gettel, Alex Bajko and Scott Hansen had two hits in the second game, which improved the Devils' record to 14-10 overall this season.
