He was the son of the late George and Emma (LaTarte) Poirier.

He graduated from Boyne City High School in 1931, and served in the U.S. Army from 1940 to 1945.

Beloved husband of the late Helen; loving father of Robert M. (Janice F.), Richard A., Barbara Jean (Timothy) West, Phillip P. (Deborah L.), and Keith C. Poirier; dear grandfather of eight; and great- grandfather of four; dearest brother of Evelyn Newville, Laura Jane Price, Floyd (Edith), and Robert (Irene).

Memorial Mass will be held at St. Matthew Catholic Church on May 11, at 1 p.m., in Boyne City. The original funeral arrangements were made by Voran Funeral Home in Allen Park.
