Nachazel sets meet record at Ram Scram



HARBOR SPRINGS Ñ Travis Nachazel set a new meet record in the long jump for the East Jordan boysÕ track team Friday, April 27, at the Ram Scram in Harbor Springs.

Combining his two best jumps together for a final total, Nachazel had 38 feet, 11 inches. Michael Hines was third with a combined jump of 35 feet, 6 inches, only 1/2 inch out of second place. One of his jumps was 17 feet, 11 inches which broke his previous best set only four days earlier.

East Jordan finished sixth out of nine teams with 48 points. Inland Lakes scored 51 and Pellston had 50. Sault Ste. Marie dominated the meet tallying 167 points, with Harbor Springs finishing second with 87.

Nachazel was third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.67 seconds. The 800meter co-ed relay team finished second in 1:45.76, and the 400 relay was third in 51.10.

Marshall Page was fifth in the shot put with a combined throw of 75 feet, 3 1/2 inches. He was third in the discus with a total throw of 203 feet, 6 inches. At the Ram Scram, two throws are added together.
