Motionless form

ÔThe whole body dancesÕ an evening of dances from around the world enchanted the audience recently at the Boyne City auditorium. Dancers from Concord Academy-Petoskey presented dances from around the world. Among other dances, spectators witnessed six ÔhakasÕ which is the traditional dance of the Maori people of New Zealand. Hakaq means Ôfirey breathÕ and the fiery brath is because of the fierce attitude that accompanies the performance of traditional Haka. Prior to performing the dance, students researched the history and cultural significance of the form.
