Boyne City wins first state ski title



HARBOR SPRINGS - The 2006-07 Boyne City girls ski team made school history Monday, Feb. 26.

The Ramblers won the first ski team state title in the schoolÕs history, defeating Petoskey in the Division II state championship.

Cristina Roland, Alex Welborn and Allison Wright led Boyne City, all finishing in the top-10 of the giant slalom. Roland finished third in a total of 1:14.35, Welborn was fifth in 1:15.41 and Wright was eighth with a 1:17.03.

Boyne finished 20 points ahead of Petoskey and Notre Dame Prep. Morgan Harding finished 11th in the GS for Boyne, in 1:17.62. Jessica Grice finished 26th for the Ramblers in 1:21.96 and Kelsey Kruzel was 38th in 1:25.38.

Roland was the lone top-10 finisher overall in the slalom for Boyne, finishing in 1:39.49. Wright finished 19th in 1:46.83, Grice was 20th in 1:48.97, Harding 22nd in 1:49.34 and Welborn 25th in 1:51.19.
