Obituaries PUBLISHED: Also survived by 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter. Rose graduated In 1939 from Wayne State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and taught art in Detroit and Rochester. She continued her education, earning three more degrees. She received her degree in occupational therapy at Eastern Michigan University in 1940. During World War II she worked at Percy Jones Army Hospital as an O.T. From 1947 to 1952 Rose worked at the Michigan Society of Crippled Children, where she traveled throughout Michigan serving home-bound patients. In 1952, Rose went on to earn a degree in counseling and guidance at Western Michigan University and eventually became dean of the College of Occupational Therapy at Western where she was instrumental in forming the College of Health and Human Services. in 1965, during her tenure at Western, she earned her Ph.D. at the University of Michigan. Rose was also an accomplished artist and photographer whose work often reflected her love of nature. She was active in her church and many volunteer organizations, including the Crooked Tree Arts Council of Petoskey, Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel, and local libraries and schools. A memorial service will be held at the First Christian Church, 306 Monroe Street, Petoskey, on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 11 a.m. Family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service, which will be officiated by Reverend Rex Kibler. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution may be made to Western Michigan University's W.M.U. Foundation. 1903 W. Michigan Ave., Kalamazoo, MI 49008 for the 'ROSALIA KISS-SCHWEM O.T. ENDOWMENT FUND," or the charity of your choice. Arrangements for the memorial were handled by Nelson Funeral Home, PO Box 1548, Gaylord, Mich. 49734.
