Allen Reich



Allen Reich, 86, of East Jordan died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007, at Grandvue Medical Care Facility in East Jordan.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Feb. 12, at the Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc. in East Jordan. The Rev. James Jordan officiated. Burial was in Sunset Hill Cemetery, East Jordan.

He was born on Feb. 1, 1921, in East Jordan, the son of Alfred and Mary (Hayden) Reich. He served in the United States Army during World War II.

Allen came home on leave and married Erma Kitson on Dec. 24, 1942, in East Jordan.

Allen was a farmer most of his life. He had also worked at the Boyne City Tannery and the East Jordan Co-Operative Gristmill.

He is survived by three children, Dale (Mary) Reich of East Jordan, Barbara (Ed) Koerner of Grand Ledge and Sharon (Skip) Roberts of Boyne City; six grandchildren, Donald G. Reich of Bay City, Robin (Kyle) Sitzema of Ellsworth, Scott A. Reich of Williamston, Kevin E. Koerner of Grand Ledge, Nikki R. Roberts of Tampa, Fla., and April M. Carr (Colin) of Denver, Colo.; five great grandchildren; three sisters, Ann (Volny) Goedke of Lansing, Alfreda Lesher of Petoskey and Edna Kitson of East Jordan; one brother, Calvin (Mary) Reich of DeWitt; two sisters-in-law, Betty Reich of Boyne City and Florida and Jo (Gerry) Clark of East Jordan; one brother-in-law, Lester Howard of Vanderbilt; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Erma Reich on Dec. 28, 1981; one son, Don Reich on Jan. 4, 1967; one sister and three brothers. The family received friends on Sunday at the funeral home.
