Grayling and Kalkaska dominated the team competition with five wrestlers from those two schools capturing first place medals. Grayling topped the team standings edging out Kalkaska 150-144. Boyne City 31, Mancelona 30 Elk Rapids 42 Boyne City 33 The Ramblers gained a split in a double dual meet at Mancelona on Thursday, Jan. 31, when they defeated Mancelona 31-30 and lost to Elk Rapids 42-33. The match up with Mancelona was tied with the two teams having 30 points each when the wrestling was completed, but the Ramblers were awarded the extra point on the fifth tie breaker criteria. The Ramblers got the winning point with the most takedowns. Nohel wasted little time recording his takedown when he pinned his opponent just 22 seconds into his 145 pound match posting the fastest fall of the night. The Ramblers also got wins from Avery Bennett (171, pin 1:14), Robinson (189, pin 1:26), Tom Fiel (215, pin 2:42) and Adam Brown (void). Picking up wins in the Elk Rapids match were: Nohel (145, pin 3:21), Eric Scott (152, pin 4:49), Calo (160, pin 4:41), Bennett (171, 4-3 decision), Robinson (189, pin 2:17), Fiel (215, pin 2:17) and Jared Wilmot (152 exhibition, pin 3:10). Boyne City will wrestle at the team districts in Onaway on Wednesday, Feb. 14, and at the individual districts in Rogers City on Saturday, Feb. 17.
