He was born in Gaylord on April 16, 1985, and was a 2003 graduate of East Jordan High School. Paul loved motorcycles, music and horses and will be remembered as a true and devoted friend.

He is survived by his mother, Kathleen (Mike Johnson) Wixon of Traverse City; brother and sister, Patrick and Katie Lynn McKernan, both of East Jordan; stepmother, Karen Rezenberger of East Jordan; aunts and uncles, Michael Wixon of Gaylord, Jeffrey (Donna) Wixon of Johannesburg, Charles, Thomas (Karen) and Robert (Noreen) Wixon all of Gaylord, Joseph Wixon of Lansing, Julie Wixon of Belding, Don (Lana) McKernan of Gaylord and Kelly (Dave) Henning of Charlevoix; and several cousins.

His father, David McKernan preceded him in death in 2005. Funeral services were held on Friday, Feb. 2, at the Nelson Funeral Home, Pastor Philip Douglass officiated. Burial will take place in the spring at Hallock Cemetery in Elmira Twp.
