Obituaries PUBLISHED: A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 7, at 11 a.m. at the Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc. in East Jordan. Rev. Robert H. Carter will officiate. He was born on Dec. 1, 1924, in Detroit, the son of William R. Sr. and Lena (Binkle) Taylor. He graduated from Grosse Pointe Farms High School in 1943. He then enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps for the duration of World War II. William later graduated with a B.S. in Engineering from the University of Denver in 1950. On March 5, 1955, in Detroit, he married Glenda Maxwell. William had worked as an engineer in the automobile industry and retired in 1987. They made their home in East Jordan in 2002. He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in East Jordan. William had a passion for golfing. He was very active with the various golf leagues at the Mallard Golf Club in East Jordan, and he achieved his golfing dream in 1987 in Lansing with his first and only hole in one. He also enjoyed woodworking, wine and beer making. Most of all, he loved his family and his family profoundly knew it. He was a great husband, dad, grandpa, and gentleman. He is survived by his wife, Glenda Taylor, of East Jordan; four daughters, Pat (Jamie) Timmons, of Jackson, Beth Taylor, of Dearborn Heights, Judy Taylor, of Belding and Chris (David) White, of Linden; five grandchildren; one sister, Virginia (Gordon) Smith, of Littleton, Col.; and one brother, Richard Taylor, of Jacksonville, Fla.
