"HarryÕs commitment to Rotary and to serving his community serve as an example for all Rotarians to follow,Ó said Rotary President Tammy Jackson.

Watson joined Rotary in 1945, after fulfilling his commitment to the United States Navy. At that time he worked on electrical projects, while building his own home. His building skills were noticed by others, and soon he was in charge of his own construction company, which grew to employ 68 people.

Watson operated the construction company until 1972, when he switched careers, helping his father at East JordanÕs Watson Funeral Home, which he sold in 1979.

"IÕve enjoyed our club immensely,Ó Watson said of his recent recognition, "ItÕs the people of the club that have kept me coming back, itÕs been a great group.Ó On his 61 years of perfect attendance, Watson said, "I always figured that I could spare two hours a week for a Rotary meeting, and for the opportunities to serve others that Rotary presents to its members.Ó

"Harry Watson has answered the call,Ó Jackson said, noting his involvement in other community activities, "HeÕs served as the Mayor of East Jordan, and as a member of the city commission and Jordan Valley Library Board, and is also a past-president of Rotary. HeÕs done it all.Ó
